• 1907 – Experimental Camp on Brownsea Island
• 1908 – A Troop of Scouts formed in Westcliff. One of the first in the Country, and called themselves the 1st Westcliff-on-Sea.
• Later in the year, they were Registered by Imperial Scout HQ as the “2nd South East Essex” Troop. (The 1st Southend-on-Sea Troop formed after the 1st Westcliff, but got their application in sooner, to become the “1st South East Essex”! The 2nd Westcliff Troop, at St Albans Church, became the 3rd South East Essex. )
• 1913 – Mr WRC Ashby, one of the Troop’s Instructors, took some of the 1st Westcliff Scouts and taught them to play the Bagpipes. A Bagpipe band was formed.
• 1914 – Wolf Cubs were invented for younger boys.
• 1914 – Mr Ashby took some of the Boys, and most of the Band, to form a brand new Troop – they wanted to be the 1st Something, but Westcliff, Southend and Leigh already existed, so they named themselves after part of the local foreshore.
• 1915 – The 1st Chalkwell Bay (The Highland Troop) were registered at HQ !
• 19?? – A “Lowland Troop” also formed.
• 19?? – A Wolf Cub Pack was formed.
• 1934 – HQ rule that 1st CB can no longer wear Highland Dress.
• 19?? – A Senior Scout Troop was formed.
• 19?? – A Rover Crew was formed.
• 1946 – The Chanters’ Association was formed
• 1967 – Advance Party report. Senior Scouts & Rover Scouts are no more!
• 1972 – Old Gold Venture Unit formed.
• 1973 – Old Gold Venture Unit renamed S.T.A.G. Venture (Scout) Unit
• 1975 – First GIRL invested as a youth member of the Group (S.T.A.G.).
• 198? – Beaver Colony formed
• 198? – Mixed Scout Troop started. (Torridon Troop)
• 1999 – Beaver Colony opened at St Albans, bringing Scouting back there after over 50 years. (See 1908 – 2nd Westcliff/3rd SE Essex, above)
• 1999? End of Venture Scouting – S.T.A.G. VSU closed. Replaced by Amazon Explorer Scout Unit.
• 2000 – Cub Scout Pack opened at St Albans
• 2004 – 1st CB Troop temporarily meeting back at Trinity with 1st Westcliff Sea Scout Troop !
• 200? – Group Scout Fellowship formed.
• 2008 – 1st CB Troop re-opened at Crowstone – on Mondays.
• 2010 – St Albans Cub Pack closed, combining with Monday nights.
• 2010 – End of Scout Fellowships – 1st CB Scout Fellowship closed.
• 2011 – S.T.A.G. Active Support Unit formed.
• 2011 – St Albans Beaver Colony closed, combining with Monday nights.
